    ABOUT NUSA LEMBONGAN
    Nusa Lembongan is situated just 12 miles South-east of Bali and is now just an easy half an hour travelling by
    modern fast boat from Sanur. (see next page "where is it?")
    This pear shaped island is around 4km long and 2km wide and is surrounded by a beautiful fringing reef.
    The waters are renowned for their abundance and variety of sea life and great surf breaks.
    The reef has been declared a marine park by the Indonesian authorities.
    The local people farm seaweed, which is cultivated, harvested then exported all over the world for use in cosmetics, food
    stabilizers and medicines.
    Other sources of income include traditional wooden boat building, farming peanuts, sweet potato crops, and fishing.
    Village life is very slow and enchanting. Very few cars and motorbikes are seen on the roads.
    The people are steeped in tradition, and one could imagine Bali being like this island thirty years ago.
    Although the island is small there is still plenty to do. Surfing, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, mangrove
    exploring, cycling, motor-scooting or a boat trip around the island, visit natural fresh water springs, explore the underground
    cave house, bat caves on a nearby island, or a picnic at Dream Beach, Crystal Bay and many more.

    The unspoilt and relaxed atmosphere of the island has been maintained and is its greatest asset.
